Past and Present

 

This page is a tribute to all the Crowle firefighters that have given up time to serve the public, the page will not show every serving member at Crowle Fire Station but will at least go part the way.

The fire brigade has always provided the area with an important service the range of equipment has changed over the years from  early steam driven pumps right up to the present day advanced Dennis Rapier appliances.

The AFS ( Auxiliary Fire Service ) was established during the second world war, Crowle had its AFS Fire station then located in Chancery lane.

Local industry of the time included Flax and Flour mills, Wheel Wrights and Black Smiths, A Ropery, Printing Press and the local brewery where based in Crowle around the early century.

On April 29th 1964 the present Fire Station located in Fieldside was officially opened and under the control of the Lindsey County Council Fire Brigade at the time Crowle was in the county of Lincolnshire, in the 1970's the local authority boundaries where changed and Humberside was formed thus establishing today's Humberside Fire Brigade.

During the 1950's the local authority fire service belonged to Lindsey County Council, note the pump towed to the rear of the appliance.
