Crowle has had a fire station from the post war days, the earliest fire engine was drawn by horses and the pump driven by steam. The first fire station was located in Chancery Lane Crowle and the remains still exist. In the 1960's a new fire station was built and is still the present fire station, located in Fieldside Crowle. The Firefighters are retained or part time and provide emergency cover outside their full time employment. All Retained firefighters are fully trained and carry out regular drills and mandatory breathing apparatus refresher courses. Being a rural area the firefighters provide a first hand service to the community having on hand local knowledge.
