The following pages give a visual account of the
Dennis Rapier Water Tender, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service have a number of
these appliances, they have proved to be outstanding vehicles for their superb
performance.
The characteristic features of this vehicle are:-

3. Fully insulated cab providing protection from low temperatures and radiant
heat from fires.
4. Eight litre direct injection diesel engine providing drive for both vehicle
and fire pump.

GENERAL
This vehicle is a combined water/rescue tender. As the
appliance carries a minimal amount of water
an area that has a hydrant supply is required for prolonged
operation. The vehicle incorporates an
1800 litre capacity water tank, a multi-pressure pump, two
first aid water hose reels and locker
accommodation for fire fighting and rescue equipment.
CHASSIS
The appliance is based on a Dennis Rapier chassis cab and has
the following specifications: -
1. Cummins C8.3 diesel engine developing 250BHP @2400 rpm.
2. Allison World Series fully automatic transmission.
3. Chelsea type 275 PTO.
4. Anti-lock brakes, disc front - drum rear.
5. Traction control.
6. Powermite 110v alternator.
7. Front and rear towing eyes.
Lockers
All lockers are enclosed by anodised
aluminium roller shutters and are illuminated by a master switch
located on the drivers dash panel. All lockers are ventilated
and drained to avoid corrosion. Heavy
items of equipment are normally stowed at low level on lock
in/out cradles. A tilt and slide removable
basket system is used for stowage of lighter equipment.
